How to Add Your Own Clipart and Fonts to the Product Designer on Shopify

Illustration of a design editor with a logo clipart tile and a font list on the left, a custom sticker on the canvas, and a shop folder of artwork files, headed Your Logo. Your Fonts. Their Design.

Yes, you can put your own clipart and fonts into the Product Designer. In Appify Custom Product Options you upload your artwork as PNG or SVG files and your fonts as WOFF, WOFF2, TTF or OTF files. They are saved for your whole shop, and you choose what each calculator shows.

A branded sticker shop wants its own logo and lettering in the editor. A wedding stationery store wants a handful of script fonts, not a long list of everything. This is how to set both up.

What can you add, and where does it go?

The Product Designer is the full-screen editor shoppers use to build their own design. Clipart and fonts are two of its tools, and both are managed in Step 5 of the calculator editor.

How do you add your own clipart?

Open Step 5, click the Clipart feature, and choose Manage clipart library. The library lists the app's own clipart and yours together, and you can filter it by All, System or Custom.

  1. Click Add clipart and pick a default category.
  2. Choose one or more PNG or SVG files and click Upload. Each file name becomes the display name.
  3. Edit the rows if you want, and add comma-separated keywords. The storefront search reads them.
  4. Click Save library.

Your clipart appears in the editor after the app's own categories. One tip: keep each SVG small, around 50 KB or less, so the Clipart panel opens quickly.

How do you add your own fonts?

Open Step 5, click the Text feature, and choose Choose fonts for this calculator. One window holds three things:

  • Google fonts. A two-column picker with live previews. Pick the web fonts shoppers can use on this calculator.
  • Custom fonts. Upload WOFF, WOFF2, TTF or OTF files, edit the family names, or remove a font. These are saved for your whole shop.
  • Exclude custom fonts. Hide specific uploaded fonts on this calculator only.

Click Save and the calculator's font list is applied. Fonts only apply to the Text feature.

In the same Text panel you set the default font from the fonts you enabled, plus the default size, color and text box width. Set the default font to your house style there.

How do you decide what each calculator shows?

Shop-wide uploads don't mean every calculator shows everything. That's the part a store with several products cares about.

  • Clipart. Choose which of the app's categories are visible, switch the search box on or off, and move items to an Excluded list for this calculator only. A summary shows the current exclusions.
  • Fonts. Choose the Google fonts, then exclude any uploaded font you don't want on this product.

One library, a different set per product. Upload your logo and brand font once. Then let the sticker calculator show your artwork and hide the generic categories, while a stationery calculator shows only the script fonts you picked.

What does the shopper see?

Shoppers open the editor and use the same tabs as ever, with your assets in them. Which tabs they get depends on the editing profile you choose: see how to control what customers can edit in the Product Designer.

  • Clipart panel. The app's categories come first, then your clipart. Search finds it by the name and keywords you gave.
  • Font control. A searchable dropdown where each font is shown in its own typeface, so shoppers pick by look, not by name.
  • The proof. The editor loads your fonts when it opens, and waits for them to finish loading before it makes the proof image.

What arrives on the order is covered in how to generate production-ready print files from customer designs.

Two examples

  • A branded sticker shop. Upload your logo as clipart and your brand font. Exclude the generic clipart you don't want customers using on that calculator. The full setup for stickers is in how to sell custom stickers with a design studio on Shopify.
  • Wedding stationery. Enable a short list of script Google fonts and add one uploaded WOFF2 family. Set the default font to your house style in the Text panel.

Is this the same as personalizing text on a fixed product?

No, and the difference matters. The Product Designer is a design canvas for products where the design is the product, like stickers, stationery and prints. Everything above belongs to it.

Personalization is a different route: text or a photo on a fixed product, with a live preview. It sets its fonts through a Font option on the calculator instead. If you're deciding between the two, personalized mugs and engraved gifts shows the Personalization route, and letting customers design their own products shows the Designer.
