Inside a Shopify Bulk T-Shirt Order Calculator: Every Size and Color in One Order

A team shirt order rarely comes in one size. The T-Shirt Bulk Order demo takes the whole order on one product page: colors down the side, sizes across the top, and a count in each box. It runs on Appify Custom Product Options.

Each shirt costs the blank plus a charge for every print location. The total of the grid sets the quantity break. With prices in dollars, 25 shirts in two colors, printed front and back, come to 1,552.27 after a 10% break.

What does the T-Shirt Bulk Order calculator do?

The customer picks a color in the first row and types how many of each size they need, XS to XL. Picking a color opens a fresh row for the next one. Then they choose the print locations, and Design Shirt opens the design editor.

The T-Shirt Bulk Order calculator before any input: a Quantity grid with a Color dropdown and empty XS, S, M, L and XL boxes, six Design Locations buttons with Front and Back selected, and a Design Shirt button

Every shirt in the grid gets the same print locations.

Why is a bulk shirt order hard to sell online, and how is it handled?

  • One order holds many sizes and colors. The grid takes every color and size count in one form, with one Add to cart.
  • Prints are priced per shirt. Each location adds its charge to every shirt, so a front and back print is paid on all 25 shirts, not once.
  • The break counts the whole order. 15 Gold and 10 Blue shirts reach the 25-shirt break together. No single size has to reach it alone.
  • The break covers the prints too. The 10% comes off the full shirt price, prints included.
  • The order has to stay readable. The cart line lists every color and size with its count.
  • Team orders change before checkout. Someone always needs one more Medium. The customer can reopen the grid from the cart instead of starting over.
  • The artwork comes with it. Most options apps have no design canvas at all. Here, Design Shirt opens the Product Designer on the same page.

How is one price worked out?

Take a team order of 15 Gold shirts (3 S, 5 M, 5 L, 2 XL) and 10 Blue shirts (2 S, 4 M, 3 L, 1 XL), printed on the front and the back.

The T-Shirt Bulk Order grid filled in: a Gold row with 3 S, 5 M, 5 L and 2 XL, a Blue row with 2 S, 4 M, 3 L and 1 XL, an empty row for the next color, and Front and Back selected
Step Working Result
Shirt The shirt's Shopify price 18.99
Prints Front 25.00 plus Back 25.00 50.00
One shirt Shirt plus prints 68.99
Shirts 15 Gold plus 10 Blue 25
Before the break 25 shirts at 68.99 1,724.75
Break 25 or more shirts: 10% off 1,724.75 minus 172.48
Total 25 shirts after the break 1,552.27

The price summary under the calculator shows the same total, and 62.09 per shirt with the full 68.99 struck through.

The T-Shirt Bulk Order price summary: base price 18.99, design locations 50.00, quantity x 25, total 1,552.27, and price per unit 62.09 with 68.99 struck through

Leave the last Blue XL out and the order is 24 shirts. That sits on the 10-shirt break, 5% off, for 1,572.97 in all. The 25th shirt moves the whole order up a break.

How does the quantity grid work?

Colors down the side, sizes across the top

Each row is one color and each box is one size of it. The demo offers Gold, Pink, Sapphire, Blue and Red, in XS, S, M, L and XL. A color already in the grid drops out of the next row's list, so the same color can't end up in two rows.

Blank boxes count as zero

The customer fills only the sizes they need. In the example, nobody wanted XS, so those boxes stay empty.

The grid is the quantity

There is no separate quantity box. The summary reads the total of every box, here x 25, and prices the order from it.

The designer sits on the same page

Design Shirt opens the Product Designer. The shirt has its own sides and print areas for each location, from the front and back to the shoulders and sides. The customer designs once for the whole order.

The logo sits on the front print area. The order's grid and print locations stay in the right panel.

The grid and the print locations sit in the designer's right panel, with the order total under them. The customer can change a count or a location without leaving the design.

What are the pricing decisions behind it?

The shirt's price is the starting point

One shirt costs its Shopify price plus the print location charges: 25.00 each for the front and back, 12.50 for a shoulder and 18.00 for a side. The total price formula prices per unit, so the grid's total multiplies that one shirt.

One ladder, counted on the whole grid

The quantity discount rules apply per cart line, and the whole grid arrives as one line. So the total of every color and size picks the break, not any one size.

Shirts in the whole grid Discount
5 2% off
10 5% off
25 10% off
50 15% off
100 20% off
250 25% off
500 35% off
1000 45% off
5000 50% off

Mixed sizes still reach the break. Three Small and five Medium count as eight shirts toward the ladder, together with every other box in the grid.

The summary shows the price per shirt

The price summary shows the shirt, the locations, the quantity, the total and the unit price. Once a break applies, the customer sees the full price per shirt struck through beside the new one.

What arrives with the order?

The whole order lands in the cart as one line. It lists the grid total, every color and size with its count, the print locations and the break.

The cart line for the T-Shirt Bulk Order: an Edit options button, the quantity grid listing 25 shirts by color and size, Design Locations Front and Back, 10% off, and 1,552.27 with 1,724.75 struck through

Customers can edit the order in the cart. A coach who forgot two Medium shirts taps Edit options, and the grid reopens with every count filled in.

The same line appears in the Orders tab with its options. For repeat orders, signed-in customers can use Appify Reorder, which brings back the custom options that Shopify's Buy again button drops.

How can you make it yours?

  • Add a setup fee. A fixed fee sits on top of the shirts and is never discounted, so a screen setup charge stays whole at any quantity, next to the rest of your custom apparel pricing.
  • Switch the ladder by choice. Conditional tables in the quantity discount rules pick a different set of breaks based on what the customer chose on the page.
  • Quote a set price per shirt. Swap percent off for target unit price tiers, so 50 shirts cost an exact amount each.

How do you get this calculator?

Start with the grid. Add a Quantity grid option and point it at the product's Shopify options, with Color as the rows and Size as the columns. Then describe the pricing to Chat with AI and check what it builds. A starting prompt:

This product is sold in bulk through the quantity grid, so price it per shirt. Each shirt is its Shopify price plus the print locations picked. Add percent-off quantity discounts on the cart line: 2% at 5 shirts, 5% at 10, 10% at 25, 15% at 50, 20% at 100, 25% at 250, 35% at 500, 45% at 1000 and 50% at 5000.

The print locations and the designer follow the same setup as a single shirt, where customers design the front and back in one session.

Each shirt costs its Shopify price plus the charge for each print location. That price is multiplied by the total of the grid, and the matching quantity break comes off.

Do different sizes and colors count together toward the discount?

Yes. The whole grid is one cart line, so 15 Gold and 10 Blue shirts reach the 25-shirt break together.

Does the quantity discount include the print charges?

Yes. In the demo, 10% off takes a front and back shirt from 68.99 to 62.09.

What does the order show?

One line with the grid total, each color and size with its count, the print locations and the discount.

Can the customer change sizes after adding to cart?

Yes. Edit options in the cart reopens the grid with every count filled in. They change it and update the line.

Every size and color, one cart line, one price.
