The Pink Stickers demo prices a sticker from its size and its finish together. A lookup table holds the price of one sticker at each size, with a column for matte and a column for laminate. Discounts depend on size and quantity. It runs on Appify Custom Product Options.
A 3 by 3 inch sticker with a matte laminate finish, 250 pieces, totals 177.00 with prices in dollars. This article shows how the calculator gets there and why it is built that way.
What does the Pink Stickers calculator do?
The customer picks a shape from picture buttons, a size, a quantity and a finish. They can upload art or tick a box to send it later, and leave a note.

Each quantity card shows its own total, and discounted counts carry a badge. The customer sees what 50, 100 or 250 stickers cost before they choose.
Why is a sticker price hard to build, and how is it handled?
- The finish changes the price, not only the label. In this demo's table, the laminate price is higher than the matte price at every size. The finish choice picks which column of the table to read.
- A sticker price is a rate sheet, not one rate. The price of one sticker comes from a table with a line for each area from 1 to 400 square inches. Reading it by size and finish at once is a different job from adding a fixed amount to a choice.
- Sizes fall between the lines. A custom 15 square inch sticker has no line of its own. The table's lookup mode tells it to use the next size up.
- Discounts depend on size as well as quantity. The demo has a discount grid with a band for each area in the table and nine quantity breaks in each.
- The customer wants the total before choosing. The quantity cards show the price for each count, so nobody has to add to cart to find out.
- The configuration survives the order. Every choice goes to the cart and the order, and the customer can change it from the cart with Edit options.
How is one price worked out?
Take a 3 by 3 inch sticker with the Matte Laminate finish, 250 of them.
| Step | Working | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Area | 3 x 3 inches | 9 square inches |
| Price each | 9 square inch row, Laminate column | 1.82 |
| Quantity discount | 9 square inch band, 250 pieces | 61.1% off |
| Total | The calculator's own total | 177.00, or 0.708 each |

On the same 9 square inch row, the Matte column reads 1.49. Pick Matte and the same order starts from a lower price each.
What are the design decisions behind it?
A rate sheet, not a rate
The prices live in a pricing table. Its rows are areas (1, 4, 9, 16 and on up to 400 square inches) and its columns are Matte and Laminate. A table is the right shape when your price list is a sheet and not a formula.
You can price from a 2D table or rate sheet with any numbers you like.
The finish choice does the lookup
The price is not on the size buttons. It sits on the finish choices. Each finish looks up its own column in the table for the sticker's area, and that value is the price of one sticker. Pick another finish and the lookup reads another column.
One area variable behind the price
A pricing variable named AREA reads the size choice. The 2 inch, 3 inch and 4 inch buttons carry 4, 9 and 16. Custom multiplies the typed width by the typed height, each up to 20 inches. The table lookup reads AREA, so a custom size gets the price from the next size up in the table.
Typed size appears only for Custom
The width and height fields use a Show if rule: they appear when the size is Custom. A hidden option is left out of the price, so a preset customer is never charged for a size they did not type.
A discount grid with a band for every size
The quantity discount rules use the 2D mode, with AREA as the second axis. There are 20 bands, one for each area in the table, and each band has its own percentages at nine quantity breaks from 50 to 1000. A few of them:
| Quantity | 1 sq in | 4 sq in | 9 sq in |
|---|---|---|---|
| 50 | 38.2% off | 39.6% off | 35% off |
| 100 | 59.4% off | 59.2% off | 52.6% off |
| 250 | 78.2% off | 73.7% off | 61.1% off |
| 1000 | 87% off | 81.5% off | 74.9% off |
The discount is a percentage off the line, and it applies per cart line.
Prices on the quantity cards
The quantity option is set to show price and discount inline, as a total. That is what puts a total and a pink badge beside each card. The price summary below shows the price for one sticker with the undiscounted figure struck through.
Shape, files and notes
Shape is a row of picture buttons that travel with the order and do not change the price. The upload field takes up to five image files, and a "Send files later" checkbox hides it with a rule. A Special Instructions box takes the rest.
What arrives with the order?
The cart line carries the shape, size, quantity, finish, any uploaded art and the special instructions. The same line appears in the Orders tab with its options and file links.
A customer who wants 500 instead of 250 taps Edit options in the cart. Their choices reopen filled in, and the price follows. The guide to editing in the cart has the setup.
How can you make it yours?
- Add a column per finish. Each finish you sell can read its own column in the table, so holographic or clear gets its own price list.
- Paste your own discount grid. The 2D discount table has an Import table option, so a sheet of percentages by size and quantity can go straight in. The tiered and volume pricing guide walks through it.
- Add a design canvas. Let customers build the art in the Product Designer. How to sell custom stickers with a design studio shows that route.
- Sell more than stickers. The same app can run your wallpaper, signs and banners. See how to run a print shop that sells stickers, wallpaper, signs and banners from one Shopify store.
